Just how irritating are these shore flies; getting rid of them is a must!

Shore flies are tiny but annoying insects which can deal some damage on your plants if not taken seriously. Just like the fruit flies, shore flies also have short antennas and sometimes mistaken as gnats. If you start to see some black specks on your plants' leaves, then it's most certain that a shore fly went by. You can control shore flies by limiting the growth of algae or by using small amounts of fertilizer. If you also notice some algae on walls or floors, clean them immediately to prevent infestation from shore flies.
