The Cubanelle pepper is a native from Cuba which has a distinct sweet taste. It's sometimes called ‘Italian frying pepper' or simply ‘Cuban pepper'. Normally, it's colored light yellow-green but it turns red when it is already ripe. One noticeable difference from the standard bell pepper is that Cubanelle pepper has the thinner flesh and does have a slightly crumpled appearance.
