Sounds like a horror movie but in reality, the Beefeater is an attractive and very showy plant that has strong spikes of vibrant red flowers along with flecked standards. Mostly grown as a perennial, the Beefeater is a member of the Fabaceae legume family which has over 200 species. They grow best under a full sun exposure or partial shade on a soil with good drainage. Companion plants include geraniums, astrantias and campanulas.
