A recipient of the prestigious Award of Garden Merit of the Royal Horticultural Society, the Canadian Columbine features nodding and long-spurred flowers with scarlet sepals, pale yellow petals and bushy yellow stamens. Native to woodland and rocky slopes, They rise elegantly above a lovely fern-like foliage, which remains handsome throughout summer, provided the soil is kept moist. Attracts hummingbirds and butterflies, but is ignored by rabbits and deer. They perform best in part shade, and may be grown from seed sown directly in the garden during spring.
