These Madagascar Periwinkles are tropical perennials which is commonly grown as an annual in most regions. They have flowers and foliage that resemble impatiens, but rather than being a shade lover, they're most suited on sunny areas. The foliage is dark green and leather and produce single blooms with five petals that frequently touch or overlap from early summer until the first frost. It's best to grow them in a sandy loam soil and some afternoon shade is fine, especially in hot southern locations.
