Viciously beautiful and dramatic are the Viscaria plants

Also known for its purple blooms are the Viscaria plants. They are annual plants which is an ideal choice to grow if you happen to live in a warmer climate and can plant them in a spot with abundant sunshine. When planted alone, these erect, stiff-stemmed plants can appear almost weed-like, but together, they create a carpet of color. Viscaria is also called by names such as ‘Sticky Catchfly', ‘Clammy Campion', and ‘Rose of Heaven', wherein its ‘sticky' nickname comes from its gummy, viscous substance that catches bugs nosing around.
