One of the most wonderful of all Saxifrages, the Encrusted Saxifrage is a mat-forming evergreen perennial producing a large, perfect and very handsome rosette of linear, glaucous, lime-encrusted leaves edged with silver. They are monocarpic and dies after blooming but they're very easy to grow from seed and will self-sow when happy. This plant begins to bloom during spring with numerous rounded white flowers, which rarely has red spots. Generally, they are considered pest-free but watch out for slugs, aphids and red spider mites.
