Commonly called cherry plums, the Newport plum is grown as ornamental trees because of its small but beautiful flowers and their red and ripe fruit plums. Its flowers can be white or pale pink and good in a large landscape. They're also used at times as an alternative medicine. A well-drained soil and proper pruning will make these plums grow accordingly.
