While deadheading some flowers will surely encourage the growth of new blooms, some flowers just don't do well with deadheading. Flowers like the petunia and zinnia shouldn't be deadheaded, as well as lantana and nemesia. Why? It's because these said flowers are ‘self-cleaners', meaning its spent flowers just naturally fall off and grow new ones.
