If you're thinking about growing some conifers around your yard, maybe you should consider the Korean Fir (abies koreana). This conifers are popularly seen and grown in parks and some gardens for its wonderful foliage. Also, it's an Award of Garden Merit and very easy to maintain as it's disease-free. Korean Fir tolerates a full sun exposure but can also thrive on cold weather conditions.
