The Escallonia shrubs are exceptional evergreen plants that comes with a distinct fragrance, and is commonly prized for being a perfect hedge plant or as specimen plants. Its fragrance comes from its glossy green leaves but the flowers also have some light scent. The blooms are tube-shaped and usually in white, red or pink. Escallonias are self-sufficient shrubs that grow without much maintenance if planted appropriately. They do best in full sun in well-drained soil and in hot climates, caring for them is easier if you plant the shrubs in partial shade.
