Hostas are among the most treasured and beloved of all shade plants. With so many varieties of differing foliage color, texture, and floral characteristics, they provide special seasonal contrast and interest in the shady perennial border. Hostas grow well in some of the darkest spots of the garden, where many perennials would not survive, and still have the flexibility to be planted in more sunny locations. Some Hostas that can make your garden a haven of beauty are the Purple Brocade, Nana Alba, and Palace Purple cultivars.
