For an Asian-themed backyard, try growing a Chinese Fairy Bell

These are clump-forming plants that'll bring some drama into your backyard; and it's called the Chinese Fairy Bell. Generally grown as perennials, these plants have bamboo-like stems with shiny lanced-shaped leaves. Its flowers, which appear during summer, are bell-shaped and colored in either white or reddish purple dangling from its stems. They also produce berries during fall, providing a wonderful display in your garden. They should be placed on an area with part shade but can also tolerate full shade on a humus-rich well drained soil.
