Growing your own watermelon may take a bit of work but is definitely rewarding and in order to get the sweetest, juiciest melon, applying a fertilizer is the best way to achieve it. Truth is there's no need for a watermelon fertilizer schedule as it's determined by the current soil condition and, thereafter, by the stage at which the watermelon plant is growing. Simply use a nitrogen based fertilizer and once the plant begins flowering, switch to feeding the watermelon a phosphorus and potassium based fertilizer.
