Ornamental grasses are fairly new to the landscape scene, and they look equally beautiful planted poolside, blowing in the breeze, in containers on patios, and as accent plants in other areas of the landscape. If you don't cut or groom ornamental grasses in the fall, they can become shaggy messes by spring. Some care instructions advise cutting grasses down to a few inches above the ground in fall or spring and dividing clumps when the grass' growth begins to weaken. Your work is cut out for you when the temperatures get warmer if you haven't trimmed back your grasses in the cooler weather.
