Chilean Myrtle trees go by many other names such as Arrayan, Palo Colorado, Temu, Collimamul and Short Leaf Stopper. They are lovely evergreen trees that has glossy green leaves with edible fruits. They also have cinnamon sloughing bark that reveals a creamy orange pith while its shiny leaves are oval to elliptical, waxy, and bear a faint lemon scent. The flowers are white and have prominent anthers, giving the bloom a tasseled appearance which is attractive to bees, being a good source of nectar. Its deep purple-black berries are very sweet and is made into beverages and used in baking.
