The intriguingly beautiful succulent called Hens and Chicks

Succulent lovers usually grow cacti and echeverias but the one plant who's rarely grown is the Hens and Chicks (Sempervivum). These mat-forming succulents is here to produce its highly valued thick rosettes of fleshy leaves with infinite variations. The leaves may be rounded or sometimes pointed, glossy or matte with waxy blooms or downy hairs, all depending on sun exposure and climate. The ‘Hen' represents the mother plant which spreads in all directions thru horizontal stems, thus forming offsets called ‘Chicks'. These succulents are great in front of beds and borders or can be used as a small area groundcover.
