The Japanese Flowering Quince called Kinshiden

One of Japan's most grown plants is the Japanese Quince, while a variety called Kinshiden is just as beautiful as it can be. They're spreading and deciduous shrubs with abundant clusters of double, pale lemony-white flowers which are borne on thorny, tangled branches. Blooming in profusion during spring, they create a brilliant floral display at a time when there is little to be excited about in the garden. The flowers give way to small, aromatic, greenish-yellow edible fruits which ripen in early fall. This Flowering Quince is a perfect choice for mixed shrub borders or flowering hedges, while its spreading form and spiny branches make this plant an excellent choice for screening, or as a security barrier.
