If you're wondering what a Big Berry Manzanita is, it's a large shrub/small tree adorned with striking dark reddish-brown bark and sinuous branches clothed with blue-green, evergreen leaves. Its white-pink flowers are in pretty clusters and lantern-shaped, hanging gracefully from short red stems. These flowers are attractive to bees, hummingbirds & butterflies, and last several weeks followed by a profusion of edible berries which ripen to bright red. They were used to make a refreshing, cider-like drink by indigenous peoples while also being an excellent food for birds and mammals.
