Some consider it a rare plant which is grown only by a few, mainly because it's most suited for neotropical regions such as Brazil and Mexico. And despite its rarity, it has many different species that can you can grow provided that it meets its growing requirements. Perhaps the most common of the species is the Lesser Antilles (asplundia insignis) and just like any asplundia, it has large green leaves which may change its color as it matures and some flowers that vary from white to pink.
