What you need to know about the Japanese Silver Grass

The Japanese Silver Grass is an ornamental clumping grass that usually produces a feathery, whitish gray inflorescence, but also has pink and reddish flowering varieties. These grass can be used as living hedge or border when planted 3 to 4 feet apart. Some interesting varieties of the Japanese Silver Grass include Flamingo, Kaskade and Little Nicky. During fall, the grass produces reddish color which persists, creating an attractive seasonal display. They can be invasive as the inflorescence becomes fluffy seeds that spread on the wind when ripe and readily sprout producing numerous seedlings.
